Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved a fresh round of central funding for Rajasthan and Telangana, releasing a combined ₹605.71 crore under two of the government’s key agricultural schemes — the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and the Krishonnati Yojana (KY).
Rajasthan will receive ₹340.59 crore and Telangana ₹265.12 crore, with the amounts determined by each state’s spending progress, implementation pace, and the priorities laid out in their approved annual plans
The Meeting
The decision followed a virtual review meeting chaired by Chouhan from Bhopal, bringing together Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena and Telangana’s Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Secretary Atish Chandra, along with senior officials from both the central and state governments, also took part.
The review examined each state’s annual action plan, how much of their first round of funding (referred to as the “Mother Sanction”) had already been spent, and where implementation stood on the ground before new allocations were cleared.

- Annual Action Plan approved: ₹849.37 crore (Project Approval Committee meeting, April 20, 2026)
- Central share in that plan: ₹509.62 crore

- ₹216.12 crore under PM-RKVY
- ₹124.47 crore under Krishonnati Yojana
Chouhan wished the Rajasthan government well in advancing the state’s overall agricultural development and specifically asked for stronger focus on Kisan Credit Card (KCC) coverage, so farmers can access credit more easily and without delays.
₹265.12 Crore Approved For Telangana
- Annual Action Plan approved: ₹651.06 crore (Project Approval Committee meeting, April 27, 2026)
- Central share in that plan: ₹390.63 crore

- New allocation approved: ₹265.12 crore total
- ₹157.66 crore under PM-RKVY
- ₹107.46 crore under Krishonnati Yojana
Chouhan praised Telangana’s new model for Farmer ID registration and fertiliser distribution, calling it a step toward more transparent and efficient service delivery to farmers. However, he flagged that the state’s spending under the Oilseeds and Pulses Missions is running behind schedule and asked officials to step up monitoring of both funding utilisation and on-ground implementation.
The Bigger Picture
Chouhan framed the releases as part of the central government’s broader push — under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction — to work closely with states on strengthening agricultural resources, technical support, and monitoring systems. He said the funding is intended to speed up work on:
- Agricultural infrastructure development
- Productivity enhancement initiatives
- Input support for farmers
- Overall farmer welfare programmes
He expressed confidence that both states would use the new allocations to accelerate scheme implementation and ensure the benefits reach farmers more effectively and without unnecessary delay.
