Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu woke up to unexpected showers as sudden rainfall graced the region. Weather experts had predicted a rainy spell, and as forecasted, coastal areas experienced light to moderate rainfall, while certain districts witnessed mild downpours.

The overall spell brought relief without major disruptions. Weather experts continue to analyse the situation as rain clouds linger over the coast.
Weather Enthusiasts Speak Out
According to Abraham Weather on X, clouds had parked themselves along the Tamil Nadu coast, bringing late-night or early-morning rain. Many coastal areas, including Pondicherry to Kanyakumari, were forecasted to receive rainfall this morning.
Vihas Rain Updates also confirmed that Pondicherry, the Delta region, and the South Tamil Nadu coast could witness rainfall. Chennai and its suburbs were expected to receive light to moderate showers, primarily during the morning hours. Interior districts of Tamil Nadu were also expected to see moderate rainfall.
Madras Weatherman R.G. Prasad stated that rains would commence over Tamil Nadu late at night, leading to isolated rainfall in districts like Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, and Sivagangai. Additionally, Pondicherry and the Delta region were expected to receive rainfall, while northern coastal Tamil Nadu and interior areas were likely to experience light to moderate showers.
More Rain Forecasted for Tamil Nadu
According to the latest update from Chennai Weatherman, rains will continue on March 11 and 12, bringing a significant drop in temperatures across the state. Heavy rains are expected in South Tamil Nadu and the Delta belt, while Chennai (KTCC) is also likely to receive some showers throughout Tuesday.

Chennai and the surrounding KTCC (Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Chengalpattu) region are expected to receive rain from noon to night. The Chennai Weatherman has advised residents to carry raincoats and umbrellas to be prepared for sudden showers.
